The kindness of strangers and link building

Hi Everybody,

I had a very interesting thing happen last week when using Twitter. As you know I have been working on my link building with what I think is some good success. I have made it to page one of Yahoo first on the page for the term Professional Spy Gear but was  nowhere to be found for the more broad term Spy Gear. I was a little perplexed, thought I would show up somewhere on the first 100 pages but no.

So I thought I would ask my twitter friends a very open question. “Why doing well for one but not the other” was the jist. I got a response from Trefor Walters, a complete stranger who I’ve never meet or spoken with before that I can remember.

He was super nice and said to DM my site name Gulf Coast Spy Gear and he would run a site analysis for me. This is something he must do for a living but never tried to sell me anything or push a product my way. Just offered to help and we all know time is money.

This is what he came up with. My biggest competition who was number one page one had made a huge link building mistake. This is something I never would have been able to figure out myself. Then he suggested I work on PR6 and higher links with the term Spy Gear and with 20-50 links should be able to overtake my competition.

Genius, never in a million years would I have been able to figure that out. Then while doing a backlink check I find that he has written a research case study about my site and what he had discovered. Please go and check it out. It also has his website address.

So not only has he helped me with asking for nothing in return, he gave me a trackable link with this case study. How great is that.

To wrap up I just want to thank Trefor very much. I was blown away by his willingness to share his know how and expertise with me.  I hope to pay forward his kindness to anyone I can help so if you have a question please leave it in the comment area and I will do my best.

Talk to everyone soon
