Spy Cameras Can Be Anywhere

•October 2, 2009 • Leave a Comment

Spy cameras have become a real triumph of technology. They can now be hidden in just about anything you can imagine. From something as common as this cigarette lighter camera to nanny cams that are cameras disguised as a Tissue box. You never know when you are being recorded.

The amount of surveillance cameras in America is mind boggling. Take for example a trip to Las Vegas. The moment you get off the plane you are on camera. Grab a taxi to your hotel and there is a very good chance there is a camera in there to protect the driver. Once to the hotel you are always on camera. Even closer to home, say you go to Walmart. Check out how many cameras you see from the time you park your car til the time you check out.

So we can see that Spy Gear is truly no longer just for spies. It is everywhere. So Big Brother is watching my friends, be careful where you scratch because you never know who is watching.

The kindness of strangers and link building

•September 19, 2009 • Leave a Comment

Hi Everybody,

I had a very interesting thing happen last week when using Twitter. As you know I have been working on my link building with what I think is some good success. I have made it to page one of Yahoo first on the page for the term Professional Spy Gear but was  nowhere to be found for the more broad term Spy Gear. I was a little perplexed, thought I would show up somewhere on the first 100 pages but no.

So I thought I would ask my twitter friends a very open question. “Why doing well for one but not the other” was the jist. I got a response from Trefor Walters, a complete stranger who I’ve never meet or spoken with before that I can remember.

He was super nice and said to DM my site name Gulf Coast Spy Gear and he would run a site analysis for me. This is something he must do for a living but never tried to sell me anything or push a product my way. Just offered to help and we all know time is money.

This is what he came up with. My biggest competition who was number one page one had made a huge link building mistake. This is something I never would have been able to figure out myself. Then he suggested I work on PR6 and higher links with the term Spy Gear and with 20-50 links should be able to overtake my competition.

Genius, never in a million years would I have been able to figure that out. Then while doing a backlink check I find that he has written a research case study about my site and what he had discovered. Please go and check it out. It also has his website address.

So not only has he helped me with asking for nothing in return, he gave me a trackable link with this case study. How great is that.

To wrap up I just want to thank Trefor very much. I was blown away by his willingness to share his know how and expertise with me.  I hope to pay forward his kindness to anyone I can help so if you have a question please leave it in the comment area and I will do my best.

Link Building Success

Spy camera for your car or truck

Link building can be very frustrating when you first start to work on it. I have been really focusing a lot of effort on this over the last month or so. The problem is directories have a long review time so you work but see no results for quite some time. Still very important but you will not see results quickly. Here is my progress so far.

For the Keyword phrase professional spy gear I have had some surprising results. On Yahoo I have gotten to page one, number one. Incredible, I am blown away. It took me about 600 links with that term but it worked. On Google, for the same keyword phrase, I am on page four. Quite a difference. Still I am very happy with the results.

Oddly enough though I am nowhere to be found for the phrase Spy Gear. I know it is a much broader term so harder to rank but I cannot find my site anywhere in the search engine results. I have decided to to include Spy Gear in all my link text from now on. We will see if it makes a difference. I am hoping it will.

The other shocking number I have come acrossed is my Alexa ranking. I went from 13,489,558 to 8,756,574 overnight. WOW…what a crazy jump.

So between directories, classified ads, social networks like Twitter and Stumbleupon things are really coming together.

The New Site Blues

•September 6, 2009 • Leave a Comment

Hi Everybody,

I hope everyone is enjoying the Labor day weekend. I will spend most of it in front of the computer but that’s OK.

I have really been going at it full force the last two weeks or so. Trying to get a new site Gulf Coast Spy Gear is so much work.  Build it right from the start and save myself the aggravation of going back to fix things later.

The site is now 50 days old. Just a baby in the online world. Here is what I have been working on.

  • Building links
  • submitting to directories
  • keywords

The link building is quite a challenge. I am concentrating on one way links right now and avoiding the others.  When I use link checking tools I keep getting drastically different numbers. One says I have 11. One says 32.  Another says 591. Guess which one I an using.

Also using Website grader everyday. Have gained 6 points in about four days. I try not to fixate on the numbers but it helps to know I am on the right track.

Most of the directories I have submitted to have 4-6 month review times. Hard work now that I am hoping will pay off later.  Will start submitting to shopping directories later this week.

My search engine work has been going pretty well. Using the keyword phrase Professional Spy Gear is working so far. On Yahoo I am still on page one,  fifth entry down. Google has moved me from the middle of page 6 all the way to the fifth entry on page three. Not bad, thanks Google.

So I do not know why I am down. I think everything is going well but things take time. I just have no patience I guess.

August Round up

DV4GA-BLACK BOX DVR WITH SECOND BATTERY

DV4GA-BLACK BOX DVR WITH SECOND BATTERY

Hi Everybody,

Well lets see what I have managed to get done on the website in August. Now that I take a good look I have improved Gulf Coast Spy Gear quite a bit.

My big objective this month was to get into as many directories as I could. Mixed results so far. The problem is the back up to be reviewed by most of them is 4-6 months. I have submitted my site to about 50 directories, most free some are reciprocal link. I have been accepted into 5 so far. One in less than 10 hours. So I’m going to call this a success for this month. It is work done now that will pay off later.

Improved the look and function of the site itself. I have put in links to instruction manuals for products and even a video of how the Trackstick GPS works. Was also able to put my monthly specials on the homepage with sale prices. So the look and feel of the site is coming along but not quite where I want to be just yet.

As for search engines I think I’m doing rather well. Keep in mind the site is only 6 weeks old and site age is very important. Yahoo has me on page one, five down for the term “professional spy gear”. Google is a little harder. I’m in the middle of page six for the same term. Will keep working on this everyday because if people can’t find you why bother.

So all in all not a bad month. I will admit I’m putting a lot of energy and time in right now but I want to get off on the right foot. My thinking is to do it right now and then I will just have to tweak it later. Pretty happy with the way thing are going and looking forward to seeing results in the future.

Trackstick GPS Review

Small GPS trcking unit

Small GPS tracking unit

We have just started to carry this little gem. An incredibly easy to use GPS tracking system. All you need for operation is your computer. No complicated software or set up to deal with.  All you do is plug it in to your USB outlet on your desktop or laptop computer and it does the rest. The unit will automatically connect and download all the information it needs to operate. Then simply set it on your dashboard or porch for a few minutes and the satellite will pick up its location.

The Trackstick then will follow your every move. Keeps track of location and path of travel along with time spend at a location. Bring it back to your computer and plug it back in the USB port and your done. That simple.

This unit is the best option for not just law enforcement and government agencies but also to track teen drivers and company vehicles.

Trackstick works  anywhere worldwide.  Providing you with information such as a red line to show path of travel using global mapping.  Records its exact route, direction, speed and stop times.

Make sure to check out the video at GPS on our website.

Some great free SEO tools

•August 27, 2009 • Leave a Comment

Hi Everybody,

I would like to share with you the two of the most interesting free tools I have found.  The first is Websiter Grader from Hubspot. The second is Google Insights.

Website Grader is an outstanding tool for figuring out how effective your site is.    It is very simple to use just input your site address and a competitors, if you like and generate a report. You receive  a website grade. The more you improve your site the higher your grade. Outstanding for seeing if you are working in the correct areas of your site and also how effective your work is toward site improvement.

Your report will include information on such thing as Google page rank, Alexa rank, how many inbound links you have and how well your keywords are performing.

Other useful apps from Hubspot include a free inbound marketing kit, blogs and webinars. Plus you can sign up for a free 7 day trial of their software that is incredible. No strings attached. No credit card info just sign up.

The second tool is Google insights for search. This is more than just a keyword research tool. It also has a graft that shows interest over time on a keywords performance. The graft goes back several years and also shows a prediction of future performance. Great tool I use it constantly to tweak my keyword list.

Well I hope these tools will help you as much as they have me. Simple to use with straight forward results. I have put links to these in the SEO tools section of this blog and I will leave them there for future use.

Have a free tool that you like ? Please leave a comment telling me all about it and I will give it a try.
